Khat use is widely prevalent in East-Africa and frequently consumed by women during pregnancy. Research on the consequences of prenatal khat exposure for child development and parenting scarce. Therefore, this project will examine the effects of khat use during pregnancy on child development, maternal mental health and parenting in the Jimma region in Ethiopia.

Wellbeing and mental health of early career researchers in Flanders Ghent University
The growing conversation about wellbeing and mental health of early career researchers has helped to raise awareness, but it has also underscored gaps in research and lack of consensus about how to respond. The current project addresses these gaps, focussing on the complex interplay between determinants at the organisational and individual level.
Narrative interpretative research with people with mental health problems from the theoretical lenses disability studies and recovery Ghent University
With this explorative research project a beginning to theory shaping concerning the inclusion of people with mental health problems in disability studies is aimed. To determine the role of social exclusion in psychological and physical health in transgender persons this project will use 1) self-report data, 2) experimental psychological tasks and psychophysiology and 3) general health parameters and immune-related markers of health.
