Supramolecular Chemistry and Materials Hasselt University
Supramolecular Chemistry and Materials KU Leuven
This scientific community aims at coordinating the research that is done in the domain of supramolecular chemistry and materials at a number of Flemish universities, complemented with a number of international expert groups. As a result, the collaboration and synergy between the partners will be strengthened, further advancing the strength of Flanders in this research area. The specific scientific research topics of the cooperation are ...
Plasma Physics and Chemistry Challenges for the Interconnect Technology of 2D Materials. KU Leuven
Transition-metal dichalcogenides such as MoS2 or WS2 are semiconducting materials with a layered structure. One single layer consists of a plane of metal atoms terminated on the top and bottom by the chalcogen atoms sulfur, selenium, or tellurium. These layers show strong in-plane covalent bonding, whereas the Van-der-Waals bonds in between adjacent layers are weak. Those weak bonds allow the microcleavage and extraction of a monolayer. ...
Sulfone derivatives - a new chemistry platform for the next generation of dynamic covalent materials Ghent University
Plastics and their by-products are littering our cities and oceans and could be contributing to potential health risks concerning humans and animals. A possible way to circumvent or reduce these issues, is making use of recycled or reshaped materials. Nonetheless, the plastic industry rarely makes use of recycled plastics in the vast majority of their products, unlike the glass and metal industries. In general synthetic plastics can be ...
Sustainable chemistry & materials. University of Antwerp
Physical chemistry of complex polymer materials KU Leuven
The aim of this research program is investigating the structure-properties relationship in complex polymer-based materials via a combination of multiscale characterization (mainlyscattering techniques) and theoretical modelling. Systems of interests include spinodal and other out-ofequilibrium materials as well as stimuli-responsive composite polymer-colloid materials formed via self-assembly strategies.
Plasma for environmental, medical, analytical chemistry and materials applications. University of Antwerp
Materials chemistry for innovative techological applications Ghent University
The consortium is formed by members of Ghent University and University College Ghent. Research is conducted along the lines of advanced materials, where new synthesis methods and their relation to materials properties are studied.
Smart integration of membrane technology and polymer chemistry as scalable access to novel groundbreaking macromolecular materials KU Leuven
The proposal aims at creating a new generic technology to obtain sequence-defined macromolecules by combining advantages of liquid phase synthesis (i.e. fast kinetics, improved yields and selectivities, improved heat and mass transfer, easier upscaling) with advantages of solid-phase synthesis (i.e. fast purification) to produce high-purity oligomers at multi-gram scale without the need for tedious and yield/scope-reducing chemical ...
