The Thermal Geography of Cities: Using Remote Sensing to Analyze Urban Morphology and Heat Islands Ghent University
Increasing global urbanisation and anthropogenic warming contribute to the development of Urban Heat Islands (UHIs). UHIs pose significant challenges to the well-being and health of city residents, amplifying heat stress and exacerbating energy demands.
This research aims to employ remote sensing data for multi-scale mapping of urban morphology and to investigate its interrelationship with UHI. By utilizing multi-source remote sensing ...

Variation in cranial morphology in the European eel (Anguilla anguilla), in relation to its trophic ecology and pollution Ghent University
The European eel (Anguilla, anguilla) shows a natural but distinct variation in head shape (broad and narrow headed specimens). However, the nature of this shape difference (dimophism or not), r het underlying morphology and relation to differences in diet are unknown. This project will focus on these aspects in Flemish eels, as well as possible relationships with the occurrence of polluents will be examined.

Head dimorphism in European eel (Anguilla anguilla): Onset, functional morphology and implications for natural recruitment Ghent University
With this project we aim to better understand one specific aspect of the complex life cycle of the European eel: head dimorphism with broad- and narrowheaded eels. We study when the dimorphism arises, and what the implications are for feeding and the accumulation of pollutatns (which is crucial in the success to reproduce in the Sargasso Sea).
