Quality of life in Flemish families with a child with an intellectual disability: A multilevel study on opinions of family members and the impact of family member and family characteristics KU Leuven
This study examined family members’ opinions regarding their family quality of life (FQOL). Parents (n = 97) and youngsters (n = 24) of 63 families with a child with an intellectual disability (ID) receiving home-based support completed the Beach Center FQOL Scale. Multilevel models detected substantial variability in FQOL scores and in most subscale scores both within and between families. The observed differences were partly explained by the ...

Study of residual stresses in I-section members and cellular members Ghent University
Cellular or castellated members are steel I-section members with evenly spaced circular or hexagonal web openings. Most of the cellular members used nowadays are made starting from a hot-rolled I-section member, called the parent section. In the production process, the latter member is cut into two halves according to a certain pattern. Cellular members are produced by shifting these halves and welding them together again. Compared to their ...
How to reach Members of Parliament? Citizens and Members of Parliament on the Effectiveness of Political Participation Repertoires KU Leuven
Non-institutionalised forms of political participation are on the rise in Western societies, but thus far, we do not know all that much about their effectiveness. In this article we report on the perceived efficacy of non-institutionalised forms of political participation, among both citizens and Members of Parliament. We draw on data of the ‘PartiRep’ (Participation and Representation) project, including both population data (in Belgium) and a ...

Experimental investigation of residual stresses in steel cellular and castellated members Ghent University
Strong-axis flexural buckling of cellular and castellated members Ghent University
Cellular and castellated members are steel I-section members with circular or hexagonal web openings placed at regular intervals along the memberU+2019s length. Compared with a member without web openings, these members have a more optimal material use in strong-axis bending. Other advantages are the savings in construction height possible by guiding service ducts through the web openings and aesthetics. However, compared with unperforated ...
Buckling of cellular members loaded by an axial force Ghent University
Cellular members are steel I-section members with large round web openings. Because of these openings, the material use of these members loaded in bending in more economical than for classical plain-webbed I-section members. These members are also used for applications in which they are loaded by an axial compressive force and a relatively large bending moment. However, the behaviour of cellular members in these loading conditions is still ...
