This project aims at acquiring insight into the socia-literary functioning of a number of narratives from Latin literature that also belong to the Western tradition of the literary fairy tale. Its output will consist of systematic analysis of the Latin ' fairy tale' and its history as a socially embeded text genre in relation to the vernacular fairy tale tradition.
