‘There is no inclusion without exclusion’. Examining high quality and inclusion in early childhood education and care from the perspectives of policy makers, social work professionals and parents of young children. Ghent University
This research project examines the ways in which high quality can be realized in social work practices in early childhood education and care for (poor) families with children. A specific interest goes to the principle of progressive universalism. A multilevel analysis on macro-, meso- and microlevels, including the meaning-making of policy makers, social work professionals and parents, is used.
Mass-manufacturable metamaterials with passive and smart inclusions for broadband noise and vibration attenuation performance KU Leuven
An increasing awareness of the negative impact of noise and vibration exposure on our health along with ever tightening ecological and economic demands has led to an intensive search for innovative lightweight noise and vibration solutions. Metamaterials have emerged and shown strong potential to outperform traditional solutions. Although promising, the manufacturing of metamaterials is currently far from mature: current state-of-the-art ...

Rare Earth Metal-containing Inclusions at the Gas/Steel Interface and Submerged Entry Nozzle Clogging KU Leuven
Steel cleanliness is a major issue in the production of high quality steels. Non-metallic inclusions in steel are generally considered to be harmful to steel properties, such as ductility, toughness, fatigue strength and corrosion resistance, Compared with the fine inclusion particles, the big inclusions is easier to be removed for its bigger buoyancy, and collisions between inclusions is an important way for their growth[5]. Therefore, it is ...
Development of X-ray based three-dimensional micro/nano-analysis methods for the investigation of inclusions in natural diamonds and meteoritic materials Ghent University
This project aims at the further development and application of non-destructive quantitative approaches for elemental/structural micro/nano-analysis based on the use of laboratory and synchrotron X-ray imaging methodologies. This includes the optimization of three-dimensional (3D) X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and computer tomography (CT) based data acquisition strategies making use of a self-developed laboratory XRF-CT scanner. The latter ...
Inclusions in yield stress or highly shear-thinning dispersions KU Leuven
We want to study both experimentally and theoretically, micro- versus macro-rheological effects in the structural evolution of particle suspensions as affected by the motion of spherical inclusions. Gravity field exerts a pressure on the inclusions which may induce motion, depending on the local rheological properties, and modification of the dynamic behavior of the suspension. The effect of the inclusions on the microstructural evolution of ...
