The Research Group Economic History, Leuven has two aims: (1) To analyze the macro-economic history of Flanders, Belgium and Europe from ca. 1750 until today. The task is defined broadly and includes business history and the history of economic thought. (2) Housing economics, with emphasis on the analysis of residential markets.
This research group comprises five broad lines of research (1) Poverty and social integration, (2) Housing (3) Economy and welfare state (4) Organization of care and welfare (5) Accessibility, quality and effectiveness of aid and services The theme of migration and integration is cross-group.
In this research, we strive for economically, ecologically and socially sustainable chicken, rabbit and egg production. We evaluate feed and additives during production and perform digestibility and balance trials and physiological research. We try to reduce emissions and excretions (N, P). We work to improve animal welfare and health. We have several hundred experimental units for housing broilers, laying hens, turkeys and rabbits.

Economically, ecologically and socially sustainable pork production is our focus. We evaluate feed and additives during production, digestibility and balance trials and physiological research. We strive to reduce emissions (ammoniac) and excretions (N, P). We work on animal welfare and health and develop innovative housing systems. We have 140 experimental sows and 900 hybrid pigs; we also do on-farm research.
