During a survey of soil and moss samples from Karkar Island (Papua New Guinea) and Zackenberg (Greenland), two new species of the small, recently established naviculoid genus Microcostatus Johansen et Sray have been found: Microcostatus zackenbergensis and Microcostatus deslooveri.
