This research proposal aims (1) to reveal and explain cohort changes in the education gradient in health among women (in the context of the massive growth in female enrollment rates), (2) to explain cohort changes in the gender gap in health at the different levels of the educational structure (in the context of the reversed gender gap in higher education).
Gender and depression in Europe. Anlayzing gender differences in depression from a cross-national comparative perspective Ghent University
Using data from the ESS-round 3, the prevalence of depression is estimated among a sample of women and men from 23 European countries. Depression is modelled using confirmatory factor analysis and cross-national variation in the gender ratio in depression is estimated using the most appropriate factor model. Cross-national differences in depression and in the gender gap in depression are studied from a macrosociological perspective.
