The Division of Crop Biotechnics focuses its research and education on sustainable production of agricultural and horticultural products. We employ a variety of biotechnological methodologies to perform fundamental and applied plant research. We integrate knowledge at the cellular, tissue, plant, environment and agro-systems level for both model plants and economically important crops.

Estuaries Research Institute for Nature and Forest
The Estuaries team conducts research and monitoring work in estuaries and their valleys to support ecological aspects of policy on these areas. The ecology of estuaries is central to the accumulation of systemic knowledge, monitoring, the formation of an ecological vision and the development of policy instruments and assessment frameworks. Fisheries and Aquatic Production Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
This research includes fisheries biology, fishing gear and aquaculture. We study the status of commercial fish stocks and give advice for setting the fishing quota. The ecological and economic effects of (new types of) fishing gear and alternative fishing methods are examined. We study fish/shellfish aquaculture systems at sea as well as in recirculation systems on land. Innovations are implemented using an integrated approach.
