Kinetic and Mechanistic Similarities between Reversible Addition Fragmentation Chain Transfer Intermediate and Acrylate Midchain Radicals Hasselt University
This contribution highlights the mechanistic and kinetic similarities as well as differences between midchain radicals occurring in both acrylate free radical polymerization as well as reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer mediated processes.
A global analysis of peptide fragmentation variability Ghent University
A study of the b-quark fragmentation function with the DELPHI detector at LEP I and an averaged distribution obtained at the Z Pole Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The nature of b-quark jet hadronisation has been investigated using data taken at the Z peak by the DELPHI detector at LEP. Two complementary methods are used to reconstruct the energy of weakly decaying b-hadrons, E^weak_B. The average value of x^weak_B = E^weak_B/E_beam is measured to be 0.699 +/- 0.011. The resulting x^weak_B distribution is then analysed in the framework of two choices for the perturbative contribution (parton shower and ...

Experimental investigation of liquid fragmentation in hypersonic cross flow Ghent University
This thesis presents an experimental investigation carried out to study penetration and fragmentation of liquid injected into Mach 6 hypersonic cross flow. Flow topology, shock and vortex systems, fragmentation and atomization mechanisms are investigated using high-speed photography, Schlieren photography, flow visualization and Phase Doppler Interferometry techniques. All experiments are conducted at the H-3 Mach 6 wind tunnel facility of the ...
For whom I love I want to be known : the scope of EU citizens' family reunification rights : addressing legal fragmentation in the European UnionU+2019s multi-layered legal order Ghent University
Family is everything, but the possibility to enjoy family life is not always self-evident. The right to exercise family life is a fundamental principle that is widely recognized in international human rights law, but this right does not include the privilege to choose a specific country where family life can unfold. Families who are disseminated over different countries are therefore dependent on the rules of migration law to be (re)united. The ...
Upregulation of the secretory pathway Ca2+/Mn2+-ATPase isoform 1 in LPS-stimulated microglia and its involvement in Mn2+-induced Golgi fragmentation. KU Leuven
Microglia play an important protective role in the healthy nervous tissue, being able to react to a variety of stimuli that induce different intracellular cascades for specific tasks. Ca2+ signaling can modulate these pathways, and we recently reported that microglial functions depend on the endoplasmic reticulum as a Ca2+ store, which involves the Ca2+ transporter SERCA2b. Here, we investigated whether microglial functions may also rely on the ...
