The Research Council has following tasks : 1° it gives suggestions regarding research policy and the distribution and allocation of the research-grants, 2° it gives, whenever asked, advice concerning research matters, more specifically general organisation and managment of scientific research, development cooperation and scientific communication.
The Research Group Ophthalmology conducts research into: Neuroanatomy; Cornea; Visual evoked potentials; Culture of retinal pigment epithelial cells; Transplantation of autologous retinal epithelium.
Research is grouped into two research themes within this research group, Global Development and Environmental Policy respectively, which in turn are also split up into priority research lines.
