Individual monitoring of fertility in dairy cows based on online measurable milk constituents ( KOESENSOR ) Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
How can we present dairy farmers with objective and scientific supported information on commercially developed sensors to? In this project, ILVO, KUL and Hooibeekhoeve set up a Knowledge Centre about automated individual online observation of dairy cattle. In the dairy industry, a wide range of sensors are available to support farmers in their daily management. The large number and variety of ...
Technology development for improving soil fertility, crop yield and food security on small- scale farms in Western Kenya Ghent University
Soil fertility in Kenya is poor. There is a lack of locally developed specific soil management strategies to reverse nutrient imbalances. The objectives of this project are to 1) improve soil fertility and food crop yields on small scale farms in Western Kenya; 2) strengthen research capacity of MMUST in relation to soil management; 3) develop on-farm quality composts using locally available materials; 4) improve soil physical and chemical ...
Evaluation of the potentional of native microbial inoculants (Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Trichoderma spp.) for control of the yam nemathodes and an omproved soil fertility, yam pruductivity and strobility. Ghent University
This study investigates the diversity of yam nemathodes and their interaction with yam an important staple food in West-Africa. Yam cultivars will be screened for resistance to nematodes. An in virto an in situ approach will reveal the potentails of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and trichoderma spp. to control nemathodes, promote yam growth, and improve yam storability.
Ultrasound in female fertility investigation KU Leuven
Men and women who desire children aim for a healthy offspring. For a woman, this means an ovulation, successful conception and transport of the zygote along the fallopian tube, implantation in the endometrial cavity, progress of the pregnancy to viability and a safe delivery resulting in a live born child in good health and happy parents. A fertility investigation aims primarily at identifying factors that may affect the couple’s chances for ...
Stress and bovine sperm in relation to in vitro fertility Ghent University
"If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger". Sublethal stress can improve gamete quality. In this research we will investigate the peroxiredoxins (PRDXs) expression in bull spermatozoa after H2O2 exposure and their role in sperm-oocytes interaction. Moreover, we will evaluate the expression pattern of PRDX6 in oocytes of different quality (small, medium and large oocytes, based on oocyte diameter) and its role in repairing oxidative sperm ...
