Dynamic behavior of lattice structures produced by Selective Laser Melting for safety-critical structural applications KU Leuven
Numerical Analysis and Experimental Assessment of the Dynamic Characteristics of Periodic Structures KU Leuven
Vibrations in the built environment result from road and railway traffic, construction, and industrial activities. In a frequency range between 1 and 80 Hz, these vibrations may cause annoyance to people or disturbance to sensitive equipment, while between 16 and 250 Hz they may lead to structure borne noise. Large buildings such as office, school and residential buildings often have a regular geometry consisting of repeated units. The ...
Development of a "stacked " solid-like shell element for the simulation of damage in large composite structures under dynamic loading conditions Ghent University
In this project, a new type of "stacked" solid-like shell elements is developed. By imposing the continuity of interlaminar stresses and the larger aspect ratios than with volumic elements, the damage initiation and propagation in large composite structures shall be simulated in a more efficient and accurate manner.
Structure, Groxth and population dynamics of Zfzelia sm. Increasing the potential of economically valuable tree species of a central african rainforest, dr congo Ghent University
The proposed research focuses on four important tropical african forests tree species in te central congo basin, Afzelia africana, A. bella, A. bipendensis and A. pachyloba. In this study, the main objective is to loo for and demonstrate the annual nature of 3 rings in the 4 target 3 species and the links with environmental and climate signals.
Dynamic Modeling of Macro-Fiber Composite Transducers Integrated into Composite Structures KU Leuven
Composite structures have been already widely applied in engineering. Laminated composites using isotropic or anisotropic layers provide numerous options for designing lightweight structural components, that have high static stiffness and excellent impact resistance for automotive and aerospace products. However, lightweight structures can be susceptible to external disturbances due to mass reduction and light damping in many cases. As a ...
Integration and manufacturability aspects of lightweight structures exploiting inherent dynamic properties KU Leuven
EXTREME Dynamic Loading - Pushing the Boundaries of Aerospace Composite Material Structures Ghent University
The aim of the EXTREME project is to develop novel material characterisation methods and in-situ measurement techniques, material models and simulation methods for the design and manufacture aerospace composite structures under EXTREME dynamic loadings leading to a significant reduction of weight, design and certification cost
Stochastic numerical modelling and identification of structures subjected to dynamic loads with a large frequency range. KU Leuven
Design of advanced network algorithms and data structures for time-dependent, stochastic and dynamic graphs Ghent University
I intend to study the fundamental properties of time-dependent, stochastic and dynamic graphs and how these can be used to develop new and efficient algorithms. In these graphs, conditions change constantly, resulting in a continuously changing problem setting. Stochastic and time-dependent graphs, like telecommunication networks, social networks and (public) transportation networks, require specialized care to limit complexity and time ...
