The research goal is applying state-of-the-art computer vision techniques as a solution for industry-specific vision problems. In order to meet stringent execution speed, energy footprint, costand price requirements, the developed algorithms are implemented and optimized on embedded systems, such as GPUs, DSPs and FPGAs.
Artistic research at Sint-Lucas Ghent comes in many shapes and forms: autonomous and applied, individual and collective, discipline-bound and interdisciplinary, theoretical and practical. Starting from a shared ambition to prepare and shape the art and artists of tomorrow, every artist, designer and researcher at the Ghent campus follows their own intuitions, expertise, subjects and visual languages. Creation, education and reflection on art ...
The Institute for International Law, established in 1999 and directed by Prof. Dr. Jan Wouters, is responsible for legal education and research concerning international law and the law of international organisations at KU Leuven. The starting point for its research is the finding that there is an increasing interdependence between nation states and consequently an erosion of their sovereign competencies. As those processes are complex, the ...
The Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies promotes pioneering projects in law, economics and political science and actively initiates and encourages interdisciplinary, cross-cutting research initiatives in pursuit of solutions to real world problems. The cross-cutting initiatives are thematic projects around which University researchers join forces across disciplines to forge responses to complex global challenges. The cross-cutting ...

Research is focused on the Magnetohydrodynamics of magnetic plasmas in the sun and stars. It aims to explain fundamental processes observed in the sun and other astrophysical bodies. It builds on and complements the laws of plasma physics that are investigated in magnetic fusion machines. Current research topics are: - Ideal and resistive MHD stability of magnetic arcades and loops in order to explain the remarkable stability and the sudden ...
