Dataset used in "Combining multiple investigative approaches to unravel functional responses to global change in the understorey of temperate forests" published in Global Change Biology (accepted nov 2023).Data on changes in the functional composition (cover, CWM plant heigth and CWM specific leaf area) of herbaceous understorey communities in temperate forests as a response to temperature changes, changes in atmospheric deposition rates and changes in light availability. Three datasets are included:Opportunistic resurvey database (opportunistic_resurvey_database.csv): derived from the ...
CO2 fertilization, transpiration deficit and vegetation period drive the response of mixed broadleaved forests to a changing climate in Wallonia: Dataset Ghent University

This repository is linked to the paper "CO2 fertilization, transpiration deficit and vegetation period drive the response of mixed broadleaved forests to a changing climate in Wallonia" submitted to Annals of Forest Science and written by Louis DE WERGIFOSSE (corresponding author), Frédéric ANDRE, Hugues GOOSSE, Steven CALUWAERTS, Lesley DE CRUZ, Rozemien DE TROCH, Bert VAN SCHAEYBROECK and Mathieu JONARD. The files stored in the repository are the input files that should be used in the model HETEROFOR to retrieve the results displayed in the study and the corresponding results themselves. ...
Can regime shifts in reproduction be explained by changing climate and food availability? Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
Maria Tirronen, Anna Kuparinen
Marine populations often show considerable variation in their productivity, including regime shifts. Of special interest are prolonged shifts to low recruitment and low abundance which occur in many fish populations despite reductions in fishing pressure. One of the possible causes for the lack of recovery has been suggested to be the Allee effect (depensation). Nonetheless, both regime shifts and the Allee effect are empirically emerging patterns but provide no explanation about the underlying mechanisms. Environmental forcing, on the other hand, is known to induce population fluctuations ...
Climate files for hygrothermal simulations of Brussels Ghent University
The dataset contains two sets of climate files for hygrothermal simulations of building envelopes in Brussels: a long-term 30-year climate file, and a generic climate-based Moisture Reference Year (MRY). The climate data are selected based on the decision framework by Vandemeulebroucke et al. (2022) [1]. The files of the outdoor climate (measured), and of the indoor climate (computed) are included in the dataset. The WAC-files contain the outdoor climate, whereas the CCD-files contain the indoor climate (for Delphin). The climate files can be used in HAM software, e.g. Delphin or WUFI. The ...
High-resolution future climate data for species distribution models in Europe Ghent University
This dataset contains a set of 13 climatological variables (Variable, VariableName) at a spatial resolution of 1x1km for Europe (nx = 13147, ny = 6071) for historical (ClimatePeriod) and future climate conditions. These variables are a subset of the so-called bioclimatic variables that are often part of global gridded datasets (e.g. WorldClim, CHELSA) that have been specifically developed for species distribution modelling and ecological applications. The climatological data correspond to 35-year (Startyear_Endyear = 1971_2005) and 30-year (Startyear_Endyear = 2041_2070) mean values ...
Data from: Canonical correlations reveal adaptive loci and phenotypic responses to climate in perennial ryegrass Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food

Germplasm from perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) natural populations is useful for breeding because of its adaptation to a wide range of climates. Climate-adaptive genes can be detected from associations between genotype, phenotype and climate but an integrated framework for the analysis of these three sources of information is lacking. We used two approaches to identify adaptive loci in perennial ryegrass and their effect on phenotypic traits. First, we combined Genome-Environment Association (GEA) and GWAS analyses. Then, we implemented a new test based on a Canonical Correlation ...
Typical Downscaled Year (TDY) for building energy simulations (.epw format) in future climate (2069-2098 - RCP 8.5), Uccle, Belgium KU Leuven
Typical Downscaled Year (TDY), based on the methodology of Nik (2016), is extracted for the location of Uccle (50°47'49"N 4°21'29" E) from the EC-Earth driven convection-permitting climate model COSMO-CLM for the Belgian domain extended with land-surface scheme TERRA_URB(v2.0) making use of the SURY (Semi-empirical URban canopY) parameterization ( Wouters et al. 2016). The integrations are identical to the ones which are described in Vanden Broucke et al. (2019). The climate model has a spatial resolution of 2.8 km and an hourly temporal resolution and is available for the recent past ...
Proquest searches of climate norms Ghent University
A collection of searches on the ProQuest Central Database to gain insight in the presence of climate norms in English media. The metadata provided contains: ID used in the search file Category of the climate norm or general query The date the query was ran - different updates of the ProQuest databases may yield slightly different results The full query. Note that the year changes for each different 'year' entry, hence the 'XXXX' placeholder in the queries The specific ProQuest database called for the query Short descriptors of the query, e.g. for use in graphs Longer, more detailed ...
