Analytic estimates of class numbers and relative class numbers Ghent University
The class number $h$ is possibly the most important invariant of a number field. In the present project bounds for $h$ are obtained by a combination of a sieve theoretic and analytic means. One of the new features of the project is the use of higher derivatives to bound the residue of the Dedekind zeta-function.

A novel class of reversible Exportin-1 inhibitors for cancer therapy KU Leuven
Development of a novel class of Exportin 1 (XPO1/CRM1) inhibitors for anti-cancer therapy KU Leuven
Nuclear-cytoplasmic transport is essential for maintaining proper cellular homeostasis since it regulates the movement of large molecules (RNA and proteins) between the cytoplasm and the nucleus in a eukaryotic cells. Exportin 1 (XPO1 or CRM1) is the best characterised nuclear exporter and is responsible for the transport of a large number of different cargo proteins (e.g. p21, BCRA1, BCR-ABL and p53) to the cytoplasm. The correct ...
Each non-compete clause is not like the other KU Leuven
This doctoral project focuses on non-compete clauses as they are included in various (types of) agreements, although oftentimes under a different heading. These are analyzed from the perspective of European and Belgian law with particular attention to case law and problems arising in practice. In addition, a comparative analysis is also made with a particular focus on the latest developments that have occurred within this field, followed by ...
The speech-protective framework set aside by the abuse clause and the protection of democracy. A comparative analysis of the developments and practice under the EHCR, the ICCPR and the US Constitution Ghent University
In international human rights law, traditional free speech guarantees are often set aside when expressions are considered particularly threatening for democracy and its basic values. This research aims at analyzing and evaluating this practice and its consequences, through a comparative analysis of the limitation of freedom of expression at international level, complemented by case studies of four democratic states.
