High-end molecular dynamics simulations combined with click chemistry synthesis to develop novel therapeutic compounds starting from small molecule fragments. University of Antwerp
Click chemistry Options for Live Immuno Brain Imaging KU Leuven
As the world’s population is living longer, age-related neurodegenerative diseases (ND) such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are becoming a larger global issue. To date, no cure exists, and the European Union considers the understanding and the diagnosis of ND as key research areas. In this context, the overall aim of the fellowship is the development of a versatile method for immuno based brain PET, as a general translational molecular ...
Oriented covalent coupling of site-specific modified nanobodies onto functionalized conjugated polymers using 'click chemistry' Hasselt University
Synthesis of novel types of macromolecular ligands using "click" chemistry: application for diverse Metal-calayzed reactions Ghent University
The aim of this research project is to develop novel types of ligand-containing polymer structures as a macromolecular support of a (copper)catalyst and to apply them for various metal-catalyzed reactions (e.g. ATRP polymerization). The synthesis of these novel macromolecular ligands will be "click" chemistry. Three types that will be investigated are: ligand-polymers, ligand-polymer beads and ligand-cryogels.
synthesis and applications of chiral N-sulfinylaziridins as a versatile building block in the organic chemistry Ghent University
The development of an in vivo system for the site-specific modification of proteins with 'click' functionalized amino acids for biosensor applications Hasselt University
Exploration of novel 'click' and 'domino' reactions for the synthesis of tailor-made polymer architectures Ghent University
This project proposes the development of new domino reactions and their valorization. Initially, the focus will be on the in situ generation of thiols as starting materials for radical thiol-ene 'click' chemistry. Other domino approaches will be investigated and the synthesized products will be applied within the framework of current research projects.
Improving late stage functionalization of molecular scaffolds via CH activation - implementation of ultrasound and flow chemistry techniques KU Leuven
Sulfur is a ubiquitous element in physiologically active small molecules. With 259 unique FDA-approved structures, it represents more marketed therapeutics than any other third row element. Almost half of this figure comprises the sulfur atom in an oxygenated state, and this fraction spans over six different product classes. The synthesis and usage of high-oxidation-state sulfur species form the centerpiece of this thesis, on the one hand ...
Exploring the chemistry of N-hydroxypyrazinones KU Leuven
Although industrial processes readily use reactive and dangerous gases as platform chemicals, a different picture is seen in lab-scale synthesis. The difficult-to-handle nature of gaseous reagents in combination with stringent safety requirements have posed a significant barrier for research scientists to conduct chemical reactions with gases on a regular basis.
In 2011, the Skrydstrup group launched the two-chamber reactor as a safe ...
