The structure group of a non-degenerate effect algebra Vrije Universiteit Brussel
A (non-commutative) structure group G(E) is associated to an arbitrary effect algebra E, and a concept of non-degeneracy is introduced. If E is non-degenerate, G(E) has a right invariant partial order, E embeds as an interval into G(E), and the negative cone of G(E) is a self-similar partial L-algebra. In the degenerate case, the possible anomalies are explained. Lattice effect algebras, 2-divisible effect algebras, and the effect algebra of ...
A reduction theorem for τ -rigid modules Vrije Universiteit Brussel
We prove a theorem which gives a bijection between the support τ-tilting modules over a given finite-dimensional algebra A and the support τ-tilting modules over A / I, where I is the ideal generated by the intersection of the center of A and the radical of A. This bijection is both explicit and well-behaved. We give various corollaries of this, with a particular focus on blocks of group rings of finite groups. In particular we show that ...
New values for the bipartite Ramsey number of the four-cycle versus stars Vrije Universiteit Brussel
We provide new values of the bipartite Ramsey number RB(C4,K1,n) using induced subgraphs of the incidence graph of a projective plane. The approach, based on deleting subplanes of projective planes, has been used in related extremal problems and allows us to unify previous results and extend them. More importantly, using deep stability results on 2modp sets and double blocking sets, we can show some of the limits of this technique when the ...
