Epilepsy is a very common neurologic disorder and while several drugs have been discovered, they are usually not specific, and 30% of the patients are not responsive. We have recently identified a synaptic vesicle cycle protein in Drosophila, named Skywalker and mutations in the human homologue, TBC1D24, cause epilepsy.
