Electrical resistivity tomography to improve the accuracy of transpiration measurements in urban trees Ghent University
Densely populated urban areas are threatened by global change. Blue-green solutions are therefore a prominent strategy to increase resilience and life quality. To design blue-green infrastructure and to supply sufficient water to urban green, accurate tree transpiration measurements and drought stress detection are crucial. Hence, ecosystem services can successfully be safeguarded. The major sources of error in tree transpiration measurements ...

VCO-based Analog-to-Digital Conversion techniques for high Bandwidth and high Accuracy Ghent University
With the anticipation of the new mobile data standard (5G), and a perpetually increasing demand
for bandwidth, in both fixed networks and wireless applications, innovation in Analog-to-Digital
(AD) conversion techniques is pivotal for the future of telecommunication. In addition, it is also
essential for other applications such as (medical) imaging, sensors, etc. In the last few decades, a
true digital revolution is ...
Extending geminal-based electronic structure methods towards higher accuracy and applicability. Ghent University
De computationeel interessante klasse van “geminals” methoden wordt uitgebreid tot ze meer universeel toepasbaar zijn door het implementeren van relativistische effecten en de mogelijk tot het beschrijven van open schil en geëxciteerde toestanden.
Improving the accuracy of flood inundation forecasts through remote sensing and in situ measurements Ghent University
Flood inundation models serve as important tools in flood risk management. However, these models make use of as well uncertain input data as model paramters which reduce their predictive skill. In this project, it will be investigated whether assimilating both remote sensing observations of flood extent and in situ measurements within the flood plain can improve flood inundation model predictions.

Detailed hydrodynamic modeling of wave energy converters in the near field and the coupling methodology for improving the accuracy of far field simulations Ghent University
For a cost-effective extraction of ocean wave energy, wave energy convertors (WECs) are arranged in farms. The interaction between different WECs and their environmental impact will be assessed by coupling accurate, yet costly numerical models for near field WEC-wave interactions with less demanding numerical models for far field wave effects. Physical model tests will be used to validate the results.
