Accelerated cognitive ageing in epilepsy : a neuropsychological evaluation of cognitive deterioration Ghent University
Cognitive deterioration in adult epilepsy : clinical characteristics of 'Accelerated Cognitive Ageing' Ghent University
Comparative study of ageing, heat treatment and accelerated carbonation for stabilization of municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash in view of reducing regulated heavy metal/metalloid leaching KU Leuven
This study compared the performance of four different approaches for stabilization of regulated heavy metal and metalloid leaching from municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash (MSWI-BA): (i) short term (three months) heap ageing, (ii) heat treatment, (iii) accelerated moist carbonation, and (iv) accelerated pressurized slurry carbonation. Two distinct types of MSWI-BA were tested in this study: one originating from a moving-grate furnace ...
State-associated changes in longitudinal [F-18]-PBR111 TSPO PET imaging of psychosis patients: Evidence for the accelerated ageing hypothesis? KU Leuven University of Antwerp Ghent University
OBJECTIVE: To determine whether state-associated changes in microglial activity, measured with translocator-protein positron emission tomography (TSPO PET), can be identified in psychosis patients through longitudinal evaluation of their regional tracer uptake over the clinical course from acute psychosis to post-treatment follow-up, and comparison to healthy controls. We also evaluated the relation between tracer uptake, clinical symptoms and ...
Accelerated ageing of shales of palaeontological interest University of Antwerp
The palaeontological collections of the Muséum national dHistoire naturelle (MNHN, Paris, France) and the Muséum dHistoire naturelle dAutun (MHNA, Autun, France) include many fossil specimens originating from the argillaceous shales of the Autun basin (Saône-et-Loire, France). These fossils are preserved within sedimentary rocks containing unstable sulphide compounds, such as pyrite, which may deteriorate in contact with water and oxygen. This ...
Brain function and structure during accelerated and pathological ageing, an in vivo MRI approach in rodents University of Antwerp
Ydc1p ceramidase triggers organelle fragmentation, apoptosis and accelerated ageing in yeast KU Leuven
Saccharomyces cerevisiae dihydroceramidase Ydc1p hydrolyzes ceramide, resulting in accumulation of free long-chain bases and their phosphates. Yeast mutants lacking YDC1 are characterized by increased chronological lifespan. Moreover, we found YDC1 up-regulated in a yeast mutant displaying reduced chronological lifespan. These data suggest an important role for Ydc1p in chronological lifespan determination in yeast. Mitochondria are known to ...
