Automated Patient Trajectory Prediction of Atrial Fibrillation and other Heart Arrhythmias using Machine Learning on the Standard 12-Lead ECG. Ghent University
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a prevalent cardiac arrhythmia with severe complications that impact millions of individuals globally. Current detection and diagnosis methods depend on expert interpretation of standardized ECG recordings taken during paroxysmal AFib episodes and risk scores from patients' electronic health records (EHRs), offering limited accuracy.
This project aims to develop novel approaches to predict the ...
Detection of atrial fibrillation using mobile health applications based on photoplethysmography in high-risk populations. Hasselt University
Atrial fibrillation integrated approach in frail, multimorbid, and polymedicated older people Ghent University
Multimorbidity is a common condition in older age, and can substantially influence individuals’ health and quality of life, making management more difficult. A single-disease approach with fragmented care is still prevalent in current healthcare systems despite multimorbidity representing a heterogeneous spectrum of disease combination(s). On this background, the novel approach underpinning the AFFIRMO project is to focus on clusters of ...
EHRA-PATHS : Addressing multimorbidity in elderly atrial fibrillation patients through interdisciplinary, tailored, patient-centered care pathways Hasselt University
Detection of atrial fibrillation using mobile health applications based on photoplethysmography in high-risk populations. Hasselt University
Detection of atrial fibrillation using mobile health applications based on photoplethysmography in high-risk populations. KU Leuven
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and is associated with a five-fold increased stroke risk which can be reduced by 65% with anticoagulation therapy. Detection of AF is hampered by its paroxysmal nature and frequent asymptomatic occurrence. Screening has been suggested to increase AF detection rates and potentially prevent stroke. Targeting screening to the CHA2DS2-VASc risk score can identify individuals who are ...
Rational antithrombotic use in an atrial fibrillation population. Ghent University
The aim of my project is to study rational antithrombotic use in terms of effectiveness and safety in a real-life population with atrial fibrillation. By studying the use and impact of antithrombotics in clinical practice, we want to unravel determinants of treatment success in terms of prevention of thromboembolisms and bleeding complications in a general population with multimorbidity and polypharmacy.
Target : Health virtual twins for the personalised management of stroke related to atrial fibrillation Vrije Universiteit Brussel
develop novel personalised, integrated, multi-scale computational models (virtual twins) and decision-support tools for the AF-related
stroke pathway, starting from the healthy state, pathophysiology and disease onset, progression, treatment and recovery. TARGET aims
to help prevent AF and AFRS, optimise acute management and rehabilitation, reduce long-term disability, provide a better quality of
