Important issues in recent art historical research are the phenomena of migration and artistic exchange. Little attention has been paid to the exchange between Flemish and British painters and to the contribution of Flemish painters to 16th century British art. This research embodies the establishment of the oeuvre of seven Anglo-Flemish portraitists and the identification of styles and painting techniques.
