Structure, function and physiological role of the SERCA2 and SPCA Ca2+ transport ATPases. KU Leuven
This study addresses the SERCA2a and SERCA2b ATPases from the endoplasmic reticulum and the SPCA1 and SPCA2 ATPases from the cellular Golgi apparatus. The function of the SERCA2b tail is investigated by site-directed mutagenesis, by the creation of SERCA1-SERCA2b tail chimera, by NMR analysis and by crystallography. The factors controlling the expression and the physiological role of the SERCA2a/2b diversity is explored in vivo at the level of ...
Physiological control of the expression of genes coding for enzymes involved in biosynthesis of the insect hormones, juvenile hormone and 20-hydroxyecdysone. KU Leuven
By means of a functional genomics approach and based on the availability of recent molecular data, we will investigate the physiological control mechanisms that are situated upstream of the classic insect hormones, 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and juvenile hormone (JH). In particular, the expression and function of genes, which code for key enzymes that are involved in the biosynthesis of these hormones, will be studied in representatives of two ...
