An additional aim is to optimize the functioning of sports policies, sports organizations and educational programs in order to promote and improve access to sport and physical activity to a broad range of society. The general vision within these two approaches is:- To continue ongoing research projects on sports participation and to continue and start new and innovative research projects on sports participation and the organization of sport from a cultural, economic, management, marketing, policy, political and social perspective. Research is conducted at a macro, meso and micro level.- To publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals with high rankings within the domain of sports economics, sports history, sports management, sports marketing, sports policy, sports politics and sports sociology.- To cooperate with international academics in order to enhance the international comparison of research on sports participation and the organization of sport as a basis for (i) the international classification of sports policies in different countries and (ii) the optimization of sports policy and the organization of sport in specific countries.- To apply evidence-based research in sports economics, sports history, sports management, sports marketing, sports policy and sport sociology courses in the curriculum of the faculty and (international) academic or applied guest lectures and conferences.- To maintain dialogues/cooperation with public and private sports organizations to increase awareness of threats and opportunities and to facilitate the application and translation of relevant evidence-based research to practice (interaction between translational and fundamental research to deliver societal value). " "AID Policy" "TG Aid Policy members have varied but complementary research backgrounds and geographical expertise. They share an interest in the ""new aid architecture"" that arose around the turn of the millennium and that has led to the 2005 Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. The major focus is on macro aspects of aid such as the use of selectivity and ex post conditionality, the increased attention to institutional and governance issues, gender, the involvement of civil society as a process conditionality, the use and modalities of budget support, and the macroeconomic challenges of scaling-up of aid to Africa. Several members also have a keen interest in the methodological and institutional aspects of monitoring and evaluation of aid, which provides another useful angle to study the new aid architecture." "Leuven Institute for Healthcare Policy" "Dirk De Ridder" "The Leuven Institute for Healthcare Policy consists of the following research groups:Patient Safety and QualityFinancing and Organisation Health Care ManagementCommunication in Health Care ManagementEthics of Health Care ManagementHealth Law " "Social Epidemiology & Health Policy (SEHPO)" "Guido Van Hal" "Regarding Social Epidemiology, an important line of research within our Research Group is the licit and illicit substance use in students. Our group has (1) a large European project on substance use and social norms, (2) collaborations with colleagues from two South-African Universities (University of Limpopo and University of Kwazulu Natal) to replicate the studies on substance use in Flemish students by using similar questionnaires and (3) two active PhDs : one about the misuse of prescription stimulants as cognitive enhancers among Flemish university and college students: the process of prescribing, supplying and acquiring, and one about better health in university and college students: pin-pointing the interplay between social support, study stress, substance use and mental health across different study programs. The Research Group is involved in the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) and the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) and an own birth cohort (PIPO study) is still ongoing. An important component of these studies is the association between social-epidemiological determinants and the occurrence of atopic diseases. In 2018 results of a four-yearly survey on substance use in over 36,000 Flemish university and college students, the so-called 'Head in the Clouds' study, will be disseminated. Regarding Health Policy, evaluation research is performed on the Flemish screening programmes for cervical, breast and colorectal cancer. Within the Research Group, there is one active PhD on the screening programme for colorectal cancer. The Research Group playes an important role in advising the Flemish Government concerning the organization of the cancer screening programmes. The Research Group is also executing research to advice the Flemish Government on how parents can best be informed to make a choice with regards to infant screening for congenital disorders, including cystic fibrosis." "Directorate Association - Policy and administration" "Research Institute: Centre for Environmental Sciences" "Robert MALINA" "Research From the beginning, and also for the future, CMK has opted for a well-considered combination of and symbiosis between high-qualitative fundamental environment-related research and applied research with financing coming from the different money flows (2nd, 3rd, 4th). CMK participates in European framework programmes, in research programmes for international bilateral cooperation, in BOF projects (Special Research Fund), in FWO projects (Fund for Scientific Research), IWT (The Institute for the promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders), Belspo/DWTC (Belgian Science Policy/federal services for science policy), the Ministry of Small Enterprises, Traders and Agriculture, OVAM (Public Waste Agency of Flanders), the Department LNE (Department of Environment, Nature and Energy of the Flemish Government), VMM (Flemish Environment Agency), and so on. Moreover, specific research programmes are carried out in cooperation with the industry. The development of the full spectrum from fundamental to applied research offers several opportunities, such as among other things the reinforcement of the critical mass, obtaining equipment and the efficient use of it, ''buffer capacity'' in function of cyclical fluctuations and so on so that there are enough possibilities for the realization of an effective scientific output, potential economic valorisation of research results and participation in international networks. Education The members of the CMK participate in the education in different disciplines (sciences, life sciences, applied economic sciences, transportation sciences) and the training of young, promising researchers during internships, theses, doctoral researches and post-doctoral trainings. Moreover, CMK aims at a clear feedback of the research to the very diverse educational assignments of the CMK members. The scientific and technological expertise of the CMK has to be used optimally for the scientific training of academics. Training young, promising researchers also contributes to the scientific and economic development of the region. Moreover, the PAV training (post-academic training) Environmental Co-ordinator level A, organised by the CMK, is a training with a high social relevance. The association University and University Colleges Limburg also undertakes educational tasks. Scientific services Scientific services are carried out in the fields that follow naturally from the research expertise. Advice is given to governments, companies and private persons concerning topics that fit in with the different activity fields of the CMK. Most of the members also undertake (policy) tasks in various organisations outside the institute." "Directorate Research, Library and Internationalisation" "The directorate Research, Library and Internationalisation (OBI) of Hasselt University has a policy preparatory, supporting and executive role within the internal research- and doctoral policy of Hasselt University. In a nutshell, the key words of DOC are:  supporting (preparation and implementation of the research policy), informing and stimulating (about research funding, international cooperation, PhDs), monitoring and managing (of the Special Research Fund, research output)." "Antwerp Cultural Heritage Sciences (ARCHES)" "Geert Van der Snickt" "Contemporary conservation science is interdisciplinary and includes aspects of the natural, human and social sciences. Furthermore, the conservation-science is characterized by a continuing integration of practice and theory. A strong ""cross-linking ""between these various aspects is necessary to be able to carry out. Finally, it is important to point out that the conservation-science also has its own history, culture, ethics and philosophy. The research connects its actions on three main 'focal points' of UA policy: sustainable development; city history and materials research. The research group 'Heritage & Sustainability' will also have the foci significantly spearheads' City History 'and' Materials Research. This is because (1) the focus of the Training conservation-restoration (Historic Interior of the Low Countries), (2) the specificity of the H / S practice (historical techniques and materials), (3) the expertise and ongoing research projects and, finally (4) how these complements each other, support and strengthen. The concept of ""sustainability"" is regarded as the framework within which the components 'urban history' and 'materials research' can be understood. For that reason, there is need for thoughtful development of a transdisciplinary framework. The research is translated concretely into the conservation-restoration practice in the form of research and development of advanced, non-invasive treatment methods (eg atmospheric plasma.) research on historical techniques and materials; development of a critical theory of heritage with a view to enabling and promoting a transdisciplinary conceptual framework and the research and development of innovative forms of collection preservation, management and curatorship." "Department of Public Governance and Management" "Bram Verschuere" "The Department of Public Governance and Management is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. Its research is centered around the area of public governance and management."
