This hypothesis is explored using complementary insights from sociology, social geography and spatial planning, political science and social and cultural pedagogy. Understandings of place, citizenship and informal learning are used to develop an interdisciplinary, scientific understanding of solidarity in the context of increasing cultural diversity. This interdisciplinary understanding of solidarity will be applied, tested and further developed through 36 exporative case studies in the domains of housing, labour, education and leisure. The conclusions of our study will not only be of academic importance, but will also be used to provide a wide range of civil society organizations with a conceptual framework on solidarity in diversity, a methodology to improve the reflexive capacities of their fieldworkers, a database with good practice interventions to nurture solidarity in diversity, guidelines for intervention strategies and a toolbox with assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions." What is the overall distribution of human schistosome species and strains in the community of Pakh? 2. Which host-related factors are associated with schistosome infection and pathology? 3. What is the role of environmental data such as water contact sites, snail distribution, snail infection andpossible animal reservoir hosts in schistosome transmission dynamics?4. Is there a link between parasite infection (mixed versus single infection) and human pathology status?5. Is there a link between specific parasite genotypes and human pathology status?" This project is called the Brussels study on the early predictors of frailty (BUTTERFLY). A lot of data is already collected from community dwelling older persons. Now, in this study, the focus is on the most important predictors of robustness/frailty. Besides the data from the BUTTERFLY Study, data from the Belgian Ageing Studies (BAS) will also be used. In the BAS, people need to score themselves on different aspects of their living conditions. These most important predictors will be used to screen people’s robustness/frailty. To make things accessible, these predictors will be included in an ehealth application, where people can score themselves. This will be realised in close collaboration with the World Health Organisation. People who scored themselves will be invited to visit a Healthy Ageing Center. Here intervention to prevent the development of frailty and to optimising Active and Healthy Ageing are discussed with the person. We plan to install a Healthy Ageing Center in six communities in Flanders." The general aimsof the Gerontopole Brussels are to run a comprehensive multidisciplinary research program identifying the factors hindering Active and Healthy Ageing(AHA), anddeveloping strategies to facilitate AHA.The research project will focus on the multidimensional concept of frailty and the assessment of frailty through“frailty-scales”, such as the International Classification of Function, Disability and Health (ICF).The Research Group Fundamental Rights and Constitutionalismwill take part inthe project through a study ofthe related legal characteristics of frailty in elderly persons aged 80 years and over, and how theselegal characteristics can beportrayed according to the ICF. The valorisation of the ICF classification system in the social protection system specifically targeted to the oldest old requires that the requirements of the fundamental right of privacy and data protection be outlined and streamlined before such a system is put in place. One of the researchobjectives would thus be to analysehow data protection laws are set up and, more explicitly, whether monitoring of frail older persons is compatible with the underlying principles of data protection and privacy and whether it is possible to give shape to a legal framework to ensure privacy and, at the same time, the attainment of important social policy goals."
