Title Participants Abstract "Between Continuity and Discontinuity, Universality and Particularity: Louis-Marie Chauvet’s Theology Revisited" "Timothy Derrick Witherington" "This research project seeks to investigate the fundamental-sacramental theology of Louis-Marie Chauvet as a way of holding together three necessary elements of Christian life in a dynamic and vivifying dynamic, namely the elements of theory, praxis, and liturgy. Using the insights of Emmanuel Levinas as an example of a prioitization of the theoretical and the insights of Werner Jeanrond as an example of the prioritization of the practical, this project aims at showing how Chauvet's inclusion of the Liturgy as a necessary element to the life of Christian faith along with theory and praxis serves to create a compelling and attractive account of the dynamics of Christian faith in our contemporary Postmodern Context. Of special interest in this project is the importance of embodiment in the development of any theology and how Chauvet, through his sacramental approach, could prevent any spiritualization or abstraction of theencounter with God and the appropriation of the Christian faith in our world today."
