Simon Defruyt

  • Research Expertise:

    Simon is currently working as a doctoral researcher at the Department of Movement and Sport Sciences department (MOSS) and is part of the Sport Psychology and Mental Support research group (SPMB) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He graduated  in 2013 as a Master in Organizational Psychology. Besides, he’s currently pursuing a certificate in Sport psychology. In his former job, Simon was a career counselor, supporting employees in a search for a meaningful and satisfying career.

    During his PhD he will study the competences that dual career support providers need in order to provide the best possible support to elite athletes combining their sport with education. Currently, Simon is taking care of the scientific coordination of the Erasmus+ project 'Gold in Education and Elite sport' (co-funded by the European Union).
