Dries Van Gasse

  • Research Expertise:Dries Van Gasse is a researcher at the Center for Demography, Family and Health at the University of Antwerp. Within the project 'Families in Transition, Transitions in Families' he managed the single-parent families. A specific focus was on the transition process after divorce and the coping strategies single parents used to find peace and balance in their lives. In addition, Dries Van Gasse also studies single parenthood by choice in individuals who become single parents via ART or via alternative routes (eg conscious co-parenting, intended parenthood). As coordinator and researcher of the Family Solidarity 2.0 project, Dries Van Gasse also studies family solidarity in new family forms and alternative housing strategies (such as collective housing) for seniors in a world in which family solidarity and intra-family care are becoming less and less self-evident.
