Dimitrios Kakogiannis

Research Expertise:
- Ir. Dimitrios Kakogiannis is a Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer affiliated with the depratment of â€œMechanics of Materials and Constructionsâ€� at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 2001 he entered the University of Patras to study engineering, obtaining a B.Ing in 2004 and a M.Ing in 2006. His masters dissertation concerned the numerical simulation of composite motorcycle helmet under impact. He is now embarking on his PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Danny Van Hemelrijck. His PhD is focused on the development of an experimental setup that evaluates composite structures under blast loading conditions and estimates the energy absorption transmitted.
