Urbanised, suburban and rural Flanders. Classification on the basis of statistical sector
Book - Report
The aim of this project is to divide the Flemish territory into 'urbanised', 'peripheral' and 'rural' areas at the detailed level of the statistical sectors. The classification is done fully automated on the basis of a specially developed algorithm. This algorithm is available as a script that can also be run with other limit values. In principle, the spatial variables can also be adapted on condition that they are reasonably similar to the 4 variables currently applied. This division on the basis of statistical sectors is not intended to be directly applicable to spatial policy, but rather to provide a spatial-typological framework for carrying out analyses on the Flemish territory.
