Study on the effect of groundwater flow on soil energy storage

The objective of this research project is to quantify the influence of the groundwater flow using a numerical model, with which borehole heat exchangers can be dimensioned. In a first phase, the numerical model is calibrated on measurements in a controlled field experiment where one borehole heat exchanger is installed and a groundwater flow is imposed by a pump well. The numerical model is then validated in a second phase on measurements from an existing field of heat exchangers, where a groundwater flow is present.
