Selection of small urban areas in Flanders

The purpose of the study is to indicate the type of small urban area to which the selected municipalities may belong or whether such a distinction is still useful or needs to be tightened up. The study therefore includes an evaluation of the selection of the small urban areas in Flanders, based on the principles of the Flanders Spatial Structure Plan and the provincial Spatial Structure Plans. The most important research questions in the study are:

- Is the methodology from 1997 still valid or does it need to be changed?
- In what sense, if any, does the methodology need to be adjusted?
- What are the results of the application of the (revised) methodology?
