Quantitative estimation of exposure to and health effects of traffic emissions in Flanders, with special attention for Ultrafine Particles (UFP) Pilot project in selected hotspot(s): Health Effects of Air Pollution in Antwerp Schools (HEAPS).

Book - Report

The aim of the study was to investigate the influence on health of school attendance in two schools, one in a busy urban environment and the other in a low-traffic urban environment. In a parallel project (ultra) fine dust and other traffic pollutants were measured in the living environment of these children. By establishing the link between the health biomarkers and the environmental measurements, it was determined which traffic parameters were the best proxy for estimating a possible health impact.
