Phaseplan Ghent canal zone From human biomonitoring to policy actions
Book - Report
Subtitle:Phase I reporting: priority themes for policy action
In the period 2013-2014, the Policy Research Centre for Environment and Health carried out a human biomonitoring study in the Ghent canal area. In this research, it was investigated whether living near the port of Ghent has an influence on health. The results of this research were announced in the spring of 2015. With a view to a further interpretation and policy translation of these research results, a process was started up ('the phase plan'), with the aim of arriving at concrete policy actions in a step-by-step, transparent and participatory manner. In a first phase, it was examined which themes deserve priority attention in the light of this policy translation. For this priority, different groups were questioned: the scientists of the Policy Research Centre for the Environment and Health, policy makers at the Flemish and local level, some local social actors and the participants in the research. All information was brought together at a joint consultation moment, where finally some final conclusions were formulated for phase 1. This report reports on this first phase of the phase plan for the Ghent canal zone.
