Launch a measurement campaign to determine the radiation exposure of new technologies and Wifi in schools.

Book - Report

This document gives a summary of the measurement results from phase 1: 'Measurement' of the study assignment: "Setting up a measurement campaign to determine the radiation exposure of new technologies and Wi-Fi in schools", commissioned by the Flemish Government Department of Environment, Nature and Energy, Department of Air, Discomfort, Risk Management, Environment & Health. In this document, a summary is given of the spatial measurements (broadband and spectrum analyser measurements) and the temporal measurements carried out in schools, homes, offices and public places. In addition, a short summary is given of the measurements carried out for 6 different routes. More detailed explanations can be found in the detailed reports that come with each measurement. All individual final reports were delivered to LNE, where all details of the measurement campaign are available. Based on the measurement results, recommendations are also made to reduce the exposure to electromagnetic fields due to RF radiation. It should be noted that this is not a statistical study as the measurement campaign was too limited in terms of time and number of measurement sites measured in the different environments (e.g. for the offices, measurements were only taken in an urban environment and no measurements were taken in blocks of flats for the residential category). This study does give a good picture of the typical contribution of the electric field of the different types of signals to the total electric field values.
