Project

Visualisation of IoT business processes

In this research project, we aim at developing a new class of process mining visualization techniques that are capable to tackle the complex setting of IoT-driven business processes. A variety of business processes in different industries, from logistics and healthcare, to manufacturing and utilities, are currently extensively supported by sensor technology. This has resulted in an unprecedented growth in data reflecting the execution and contextual environment of these business processes. Process mining is a research area devoted to extracting knowledge and insights from business process execution data, typically stored in the information systems that organizations use to support the execution of these processes. However, there is still an important gap in terms of techniques that are capable to natively deal with IoT data for process mining. This is exactly what will be addressed in this research project.
