Value driven concept design for mechatronic product families. (VAPROFAM)

The main innovation goal of this project is the creation of a new formal methodology and supporting tools for incremental, value driven product family design taking into account the direct & indirect costs over the product lifecycle. This methodology targets the early stage (conceptual) design phase where a lot of design choices are not yet fixed and a lot of information is still missing or uncertain. By applying this methodology, companies will be able to reduce the overall lifecycle costs of their product family and will be able to determine which components are best standardized.
