Use of a walking assistive ankle foot exoskeleton in the rehabilitation of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to counter reduced exercise capacity

Ghent’s University lab was the first ever to reduce metabolic energy cost with an ankle assisting exoskeleton below the cost of walking with normal shoes. The aim of this doctoral research is to optimize exoskeletal assistance to improve walking capacity of patients with COPD by reducing metabolic cost and to implement the exoskeleton in the rehabilitation of COPD patients
