Project

UNA, citizens and civil society engagement towards a more inclusive and successful circular economy (CE).

Cities are complex systems which still rely on linear economic models. Given their importance in shaping the global
economy, they are key in the transition to a circular economy (CE). To monitor and support such transition at urban
level, a decisive move beyond the state-of-the-art of techno-economic indicators and data is required. In particular,
the involvement of citizens in supporting and advancing the transition to a CE is of great importance for a more just
and successful implementation of CE. The proposal addresses these needs by enhancing collaborative approaches
between researchers and citizens to design and implement more successful circular city initiatives and support a
socially just and fair transition. By building on the collective imagination capacity starting from stakeholders'
perspectives, new data and new data sources will be developed. To get there, the consortium aims (i) to build a R&I
ecosystem to develop a common project portfolio, (ii) to explore new narratives, business and cooperation models
with stakeholders, and (iii) to acquire funding from European sources.
