Ultrasonic characterization of multi-layer structures

The proposed research project focusses on non-destructive characterization of multi-layered structures with the use of ultrasound. Approaches in both time and frequency domain will be developed to extract layer parameters, e.g. thickness, wave speed, stiffness, damping and roughness. After validation of the developed procedures on layered metallic structures, it will also be applied on fiber reinforced plastics.
