Project

Towards long-lasting and highly-performant BLue Organic-Light Emitting Diodes (BLOLEDs)

The goal of BLOLEDs is to contribute in the design of the next generation long-lasting and high-performing blue molecular materials for organic-light emitting diodes (OLEDs). In contrast to red or green OLEDs, the fabrication of a blue OLED with long operational stability has not been achieved yet. This has strongly limited the large-scale commercialization of OLEDs. In BLOLEDs, a bottom-up cross-disciplinary approach involving a combination of i) quantum chemical and molecular modeling tools, ii) kinetic modeling and iii) cheminformatics & machine learning approaches is proposed to guide the molecular design strategies. With such a chemically oriented approach, this project will allow to overcome the current challenges in developing stable host and dopant molecular materials for OLEDs.
