Through a kid's eyes project - part 2:understanding the underlying mechanisms of an altered action observation action execution network in young children with autism spectrum disorders (R-4822)

Autism is one of the most frequent childhood neurodevelopmental disorders, characterised by impairment in social interaction, in communication skills and in behaviour, which is restricted and repetitive. Although the onset of autism is before the age of 3 years, the diagnosis is often delayed until school age. Previous work of our research group on imitation problems in autism has advanced the diagnostic process at preschool age. This project seeks to examine possible precursors for imitation problems to advance the early diagnosis of autism, in particular early signs of an altered Action Observation Action Execution (AOAE) network.
