A study on rheolocial behavior of post-consumer PVC boosted with additives

As a major sub-project under a collaborative project PoCoPAdd (Post-Consumer PVC boosted with Additives), the main research focus of this PhD would be rheological characterization on rigid PVC with additives through a combination of various advanced rheological techniques including capillary rheometer, RheoArt and slit die measurements. Along with the experimental work, the PhD candidate is expected to establish a modelling tool in order to study the rheological behavior of PVC material as a function of time, in particular, degree of gelation. Since the aim of PoCoPAdd project is to gain a better understanding on the effect of recycling on the composition of PVC formulation, especially the relationship between rheological behavior and end-product characteristic, PVC materials go through repetitive recycling through extrusion up to 8 cycles will be provided by cooperative companies, the PhD candidate is supposed to investigate and understand how rheological behavior change for post-consumer PVC.
