Project

Structure-function study with NMR of and insight into the supramolecular assembly of lipopeptide antibiotics from the viscosin group.

The relation between monomer structure, supramolecular assembly and the resulting biological function of self-assembling antimicrobial lipopeptides will be studied. The recently shown potential of diffusion relaxation NMR techniques to gain information about the self-assembly will be employed. Next to this, we wish to synthesize a series of non-natural variants, which will elucidate the principles of the self-assembly.
