Project

Security and privacy in wireless communicationsand networks (R-6736)

As a result of the increase in het number ofwireless devices on the market and the complexity of used communication protocols, partly due to trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), the security of wireless communications plays anincreasingly importantrole. The main goal of thisresearchproject is therefore to identify and mitigate new vulnerabilities in themost commonly usedwireless protocols, so that the information security and privacy of stakeholders is improved.Concretely, the following goals will be focused on: performing a thorough analysis of both the implementation and design of these protocols on the Medium Access Control (MAC)and Physical (PHY)layers, evaluating unintentionally transmitted electromagnetic (EM)radiation by wireless devices using pattern matching techniquesandfinally, analyzing the entropy of credentials in embedded systems.
