Scate - Smart Computer-Aided Translation Environment.

The SCATE project (Smart Computer-Aided Translation Environment) investigates a range of technological aspects of the professional translation process with the aim of optimalizing this process. It focusses on

  • machine translation and its integration with translation memories;
  • automatic evaluation of MT output in order to assess its usability;
  • automatic term extraction from comparable corpora;
  • speech recognition in the context of MT, such as speech translation and speech recognition as a post-editing input method.

The project also investigates how to optimally design the user interace of the translator. The various aspects are combined into a prototype demonstration system.
