Project

Sabbatical Nadia Lie: Tourist Fiction from Latin America.

This application is part of the FWO project G086819N 'Traveling words and images: A Study of Tourist Fiction and Non-Fiction in the Hispanic World' (2019-2022), which I supervise in collaboration with Dagmar Vandebosch (KULeuven campus Kortrijk) and cultural anthropologist Paolo Favero (University of Antwerp). Within this project I am in charge of the general supervision as well as the implementation of WP3, which amounts to writing an independent book publication with the provisional title 'Plotting Happiness: Tourist Fiction from Latin America.' films and literary works, with a particular focus on the Cono Sur. The sabbatical year will be spent on writing this book, both in Leuven and during the research stay in Latin America (possibly to be replaced by an alternative in Europe if the Corona crisis so requires). Based on existing contacts in the US and Latin America, I am hopeful that the manuscript, once written, will quickly find its way to an international publisher and be published according to the predetermined schedule (i.e. in 2022).
