Sabbatical Filip Mattens: From bodily moods to spatial agent

Traditionally, the human experience of space is situated in the physical capacity for movement. Human affectivity, on the other hand, is situated in physical sensibility. Both dimensions are therefore examined separately from each other. This project aims to investigate the relationship between the two from the nature of the physicality itself in its relationship to the spatial according to two parallel trajectories. On the one hand, the motives that led to the separation of the kinetic and the affective are examined. On the other hand, it zooms in on the way in which some pioneers of installation art intuitively tried to bridge this split in the design of affective architectures.
